পরিচ্ছেদঃ ১৮৯: মসজিদে যাওয়ার ফযীলত
৪/১০৬৩। জাবের রাদিয়াল্লাহু আনহু হতে বর্ণিত, তিনি বলেন, মসজিদে নববীর আশে-পাশে কিছু জায়গা খালি হল। (এ দেখে) সালেমা গোত্র মসজিদে (নববী)এর নিকট স্থানান্তরিত হবার ইচ্ছা প্রকাশ করল। এ খবর নবী সাল্লাল্লাহু আলাইহি ওয়াসাল্লাম জানতে পারলে তিনি তাদেরকে বললেন, “আমি জানতে পেরেছি যে, তোমরা মসজিদের কাছে চলে আসতে চাঁচ্ছ!” তারা বলল, ’জী হ্যাঁ, হে আল্লাহর রাসূল! আমরা এ ইচ্ছা করেছি।’ তিনি বললেন, “হে সালেমা গোত্র! তোমরা নিজেদের (বর্তমান) বাড়িতেই থাক। তোমাদের (মসজিদের পথে) পদক্ষেপসমূহের চিহ্নগুলি লিপিবদ্ধ করা হবে। তোমরা নিজেদের (বর্তমান) বাড়িতেই থাক। তোমাদের (মসজিদের পথে) পদক্ষেপসমূহের চিহ্নগুলি লিপিবদ্ধ করা হবে।” তারা বলল, ’(মসজিদের নিকট) স্থানান্তরিত হওয়া আমাদেরকে আনন্দ দেবে না।’ (মুসলিম, ইমাম বুখারী ও আনাস রাদিয়াল্লাহু আনহু হতে এ মর্মে হাদিস বর্ণনা করেছেন।) [1]
(189) بَابُ فَضْلِ الْمَشْيِ إِلَى الْمَسَاجِدِ
وَعَنْ جَابِرٍ رضي الله عنه، قَالَ: خَلَتِ البِقَاعُ حَولَ المَسْجِدِ، فَأَرَادَ بَنُو سَلِمَةَ أَنْ يَنْتَقِلُوا قُرْبَ المَسْجِدِ، فَبَلَغَ ذَلِكَ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكُم تُرِيدُونَ أَنْ تَنْتَقِلُوا قُرْبَ المَسْجِدِ ؟» قَالُوا: نَعَم، يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم، قَدْ أرَدْنَا ذَلِكَ . فَقَالَ: «بَنِي سَلِمَةَ دِيَارَكُم تُكْتَبْ آثارُكُمْ، دِيَارَكُمْ تُكْتَبْ آثارُكُمْ،» فَقَالُوا: مَا يَسُرُّنَا أَنَّا كُنَّا تَحَوَّلْنَا . رواه مسلم، وروى البخاري معناه من رواية أنس .
(189) Chapter: The Excellence of Proceeding towards the Mosque Walking
Jabir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported:
There were some plots of land lying vacant around the mosque. The people of Banu Salamah decided to move to this land and come nearer to the mosque. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) heard about it and said to them, "I have heard that you intend to move near the mosque." They said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah! We have decided to do that." Thereupon the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "O Banu Salamah! Stay in your houses, because your footprints (when you come to the mosque) will be recorded." He said this twice. They said: "We would not have liked it, had we moved near the mosque."

Commentary: This Hadith mentions the merit of living at a distance from mosque. It is better that such people who lack the passion for worship and are not punctual in Salat should live near mosque so that they do not neglect the obligatory prayers.
